I guess it depends on where you are and who you ask. In this town, the title goes to Sam Phillips, engineer, producer, and owner of Sun Records and Studios. He was born in Florence, Alabama and began his career as a disc jockey and radio engineer. After doing some work for Chess Records, he began his own record company in 1952 and recorded Elvis Presley 2 years later.
