After a 24-hr lag in finding or thinking of anything to post, I stumbled upon this goodie:

It’s amazing the number of folks who can’t sing on pitch that go on to become entertainers. Auto-tune keeps ‘em in business. Too bad they sound like mutant replicants from the planet Zeno.
Auto-tune is the Antares plug-in that allows engineers to correct bad singing. In the hands of an amateur, the results can be bad. My old protools trainer, Shawn Simpson was a great vocal tuner and I believe he insisted on editing every syllable manually, even though Auto-Tune was available. I’m still groovin’ on Melodyne (recommended by Shawn) and I try to do things just like my teacher. Imagine that!

Well, I didn’t know all these artists use it.
I didn’t pay too much attention to this until now. I must admit that “the Cher effect” is nice if used the right way, just that not all the time and not everywhere.
We had here an other stupid case that everybody abused of.
Some famous dance band here came with adding doubled/phone mixed/lower volume verse at one moment in a song. “YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU ..you knooow iii llooove youuu “, still maintaining the beat, tempo and timming of the song. It was kind of a cool effect when you hear it first.
But also, we have some low class music here, kitsch music derived from half oriental, half gypsy music with folkloric influences (damn stupidest thing). Well, these guys make music as they change their socks without quality or care to originality, just for uneducated consumer music and THEY STARTED TO ABUSE OF THIS!!!
A lot of songs made use/abuse of this repeated verse mixed with the phone effect, until the effect became totally annoying ,awful!
right on! –love the “kitsch music” comparison. It’s quantity vs. quality and all for padding cd releases that only have 1 or 2 fair tracks on it. It used to be the big record labels that sifted through all the garbage so that we didn’t have to hear it. Nowadays, you’re likely to hear anything because everyone has access. Too many artists chasing too few dollars and the quality gets hidden by piles of junk… is this how we want to feel every time we’re ready to go out and “consume” some music?
